OpenAI launches ChatGPT for finance teams

The new ChatGPT Work variant bundles premium financial data, GPT-6 Astra and firm templates for research, modeling and client materials.

OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT for Financial Services, a tailored ChatGPT Work experience for banks and other eligible financial institutions. The product combines built-in financial data with GPT-6 Astra and is meant to help teams produce research, financial models and client-ready materials.

The first focus is investment banking and equity research, shaped through design partnerships with Morgan Stanley and Evercore. OpenAI says the product includes premium datasets from providers such as Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News and Crunchbase, covering areas like earnings transcripts, financial statements, company fundamentals and private-company information.

The practical change is that finance teams should not have to negotiate separate data access or troubleshoot connectors for every workflow. OpenAI says the data is indexed and hosted on its infrastructure so ChatGPT can return granular citations, trace figures back to source tables and highlight supporting passages for review.

The product also supports firm-controlled templates for Excel, Word and PowerPoint, so analysis can be turned into valuation models, research notes or pitchbooks in an institution’s house format. OpenAI says business data is not used to train models by default, and admins can manage retention, access, information barriers and compliance exports.

For the AI market, this is another sign that general assistants are becoming industry-specific work platforms, with licensed data, governance and output formats bundled into the product rather than left to customers to assemble.
