Meta raises 15 billion dollars in bonds to fund its AI buildout
The five-part debt sale shows how even cash-rich technology companies are turning to capital markets to finance data centers and computing capacity.

Meta has raised 15 billion dollars through a five-part US bond sale, adding fresh financing capacity as the company accelerates investment in AI infrastructure. Reuters reported that the offering is intended to help fund data centers, computing capacity and cloud expansion.
Bloomberg said investors placed orders for as much as 58 billion dollars. That demand matters because it helps Meta borrow at more favorable terms even as bond buyers become more selective about the technology sector’s fast-growing AI spending.
The transaction is part of a broader change in how the AI race is financed. Large technology companies historically relied heavily on cash flow, but the cost of accelerators, power and new data-center campuses is pushing them toward debt and other capital-market instruments. Meta has also been expanding its plans for additional equity financing tied to infrastructure investment.
For users and developers, the immediate effect is not a new model or product. The important signal is that Meta is building the financial runway to keep scaling compute, which can support larger models and broader deployment across its services. The trade-off is that investors will increasingly judge AI projects not only by technical progress, but by whether the spending produces durable revenue and returns.
