Anthropic launches Claude Duet, an agent that works while you are away

The proactive assistant monitors connected apps, sends morning briefs and completes business tasks on its own cloud computer, asking before sensitive actions.

Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, a standalone app where Claude acts as a proactive agent rather than waiting for a new chat. It can monitor connected work apps, send a short morning brief, complete tasks in the background and message the user when it finishes or needs a decision.

Claude Duet runs on its own cloud computer, so a phone or laptop does not have to stay on. It carries over Claude memory, skills and connectors, and can work across more than 6,000 integrations. Anthropic lists examples such as finding missed Gmail and Slack messages, checking unpaid QuickBooks or Stripe invoices, preparing Gusto payroll, drafting LinkedIn job posts, sending Docusign agreements and managing Shopify stores.

The agent can also build dashboards, forecasts, presentations and web apps. Before sending a message, making a payment, signing a document or deleting anything, it shows the proposed action and waits for approval. Some actions, including securities trading and moving money between accounts, remain off-limits.

Claude Duet is available through a waitlisted research preview for Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers in the US. It shares the user’s normal Claude usage limits, including the background checks it performs across connected accounts. Anthropic warns that the early version can still misread threads or misjudge urgency.
