Cat Wu, Anthropic’s head of product for Claude Code and Cowork, has left the company. Anthropic confirmed the departure to Business Insider, while Wu announced it in a post on X. She did not give a reason or name her next role.

Wu was one of Claude Code’s two most visible leaders alongside its creator, Boris Cherny. She joined Anthropic after testing an early internal version of the coding agent, then helped turn it from a tool that users supervised prompt by prompt into a system trusted with migrations and complete products.

Claude Code became a major growth engine for Anthropic as companies and developers increased their use of Claude tokens. Wu also oversaw Cowork, which adapts similar agentic workflows for non-coding knowledge work. No successor has been announced.

Her exit comes as Anthropic prepares for a reported public listing. Business Insider also noted that Claude Code team member Thariq Shihipar recently announced his departure. The company has not indicated that the leadership changes will alter the product roadmap.

For Anthropic, the significance is less about an immediate feature change and more about continuity around one of its most important commercial products.
