OpenAI buys NextSlide to bring presentations into ChatGPT
The small presentation startup says its team has joined OpenAI and is now working on ChatGPT.
OpenAI has acquired NextSlide, a presentation startup that built tools for turning prompts, notes, documents and research into editable slide decks. NextSlide says its team is now at OpenAI and working on ChatGPT.
TechCrunch reports that the deal terms were not disclosed. Founder Ahmed Beshry said the public announcement came months after the transaction, and framed the move as a continuation of NextSlide’s goal: helping people create and communicate ideas more clearly.
The story matters because presentations are one of the default formats of office work, and ChatGPT is steadily becoming less of a chat box and more of a workspace for creating finished artifacts. Bringing a deck-generation team into ChatGPT could help OpenAI compete more directly with productivity suites and AI-first presentation tools, especially for users who want documents, research and slides to live in one assistant workflow.
