OpenAI adds up to $500 in monthly API credits to ChatGPT plans
Eligible Pro users can receive credits matching their plan price, while Business workspaces get pooled per-seat grants capped at $500 a month.

OpenAI is giving eligible ChatGPT Pro and Business subscribers recurring credits for its developer API. The benefit turns a ChatGPT subscription into a budget for building apps and agents, with grants reaching $500 per monthly billing period.
For Pro, the API allowance matches the subscription tier: $100, $200 or $500. Business workspaces receive $20 for each paid Standard seat and $100 for each paid Premium seat, pooled across the workspace and capped at $500 a month. Annual Business customers receive the year’s grant at once, up to $6,000.
To qualify, a paid subscription must be at least seven days old. The person claiming the benefit must own both the ChatGPT subscription or Business workspace and the receiving API organization, using the same email address for both accounts. The first grant is prorated, future grants arrive at renewal, and unused credits expire at the end of the billing cycle.
The credits cover paid API Platform usage, including Responses, Agents, Realtime, Images and built-in tools. They do not increase ChatGPT limits or signed-in Codex usage, and Codex use through API keys is excluded. This gives existing ChatGPT customers a meaningful incentive to move from using AI products to building on OpenAI’s platform.
