Nvidia explores a possible deal with Korean AI chip startup Rebellions

Bloomberg says the talks could cover a technical partnership, investment or acquisition, but no transaction is agreed.

Nvidia is reportedly in early talks with Rebellions, a South Korean AI chip designer, about a possible deal. Bloomberg reported that the discussions could range from a technical partnership or licensing arrangement to an equity investment or full acquisition.

Rebellions is focused on inference chips for data centers, the part of AI infrastructure that runs models after they are trained. TradingKey, citing the Bloomberg report, says the company has raised about 850M USD and was valued at roughly 2.3B USD after a pre-IPO round. Its investors include Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, SK Telecom and Korea National Growth Fund.

The talks matter because Nvidia is not only selling the dominant AI accelerators; it is also trying to shape more of the surrounding compute supply chain. Rebellions works closely with Samsung’s foundry business, which gives the story a Korean semiconductor angle beyond a simple startup investment.

There is still a large caveat. The discussions are early, and any acquisition of a strategic chip company could face political and antitrust scrutiny. For now, the useful signal is that Nvidia is looking beyond its own GPU roadmap as demand for AI inference capacity keeps growing.
