AIUC raises 40 million dollars to audit and insure AI agents

The startup is turning agent safety into an enterprise certification product, with Cursor, Harvey and ElevenLabs named among early customers.

Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company, or AIUC, has raised 40 million dollars to build a third-party audit and insurance layer for AI agents.

TechCrunch reported that Ribbit Capital led the Series A, with First Harmonic participating. The company previously raised 15 million dollars, bringing disclosed funding to 55 million dollars. AIUC was founded by Rune Kvist, an early Anthropic product and commercial hire, and Rajiv Dattani, former COO of the AI safety evaluator METR.

The product is AIUC-1, a certification standard for agents that borrows from the enterprise software role of SOC 2. AIUC says the standard was shaped with more than 250 security and risk leaders and covers security, safety, reliability, privacy, accountability and broader societal risks.

According to TechCrunch, AIUC runs agents through about 5,000 tests for failures such as jailbreaks, hallucinations and data leaks, then produces a report that humans verify. AIUC names Cursor, Lovable, Harvey and ElevenLabs among its customers; ElevenLabs says its voice agents received AIUC-1-backed insurance after thousands of adversarial simulations.

The useful signal is not just the financing. Agent vendors are trying to sell systems that can take actions, touch data and make commitments on behalf of companies. AIUC is betting that enterprises will need a familiar procurement artifact, plus insurance, before they let those agents into critical workflows.
