Hugging Face explores sale interest at 13B USD valuation

Business Insider says the AI developer platform has hired a bank to test buyer appetite, with no deal reached yet.

Business Insider reports that Hugging Face has been exploring acquisition interest that could value the AI developer platform at 13B USD or more. The company has hired a bank to evaluate potential bidders, but the report says no deal has been reached.

Hugging Face is best known as a hub where developers publish, download and build with AI models. That position makes it infrastructure for the model ecosystem rather than a direct competitor to OpenAI, Anthropic or Meta.

The reported valuation would be a sharp jump from Hugging Face’s last known 4.5B USD valuation in 2023. It also fits a broader rush toward AI infrastructure deals, including Business Insider’s recent reporting that Stripe agreed to buy OpenRouter for about 8B USD.

The important signal is that buyers are not only chasing model labs. Marketplaces, routing layers and developer platforms are becoming strategic control points because they sit between model providers and the developers who spend on inference, deployment and tooling.
