Ryanair puts Gemini into airline operations with Google Cloud
Europe’s largest airline says it will use Gemini Enterprise and DeepMind models for crew logistics, maintenance planning and resilience.
Ryanair has signed a five-year partnership with Google Cloud to bring Google Workspace, Gemini Enterprise and selected Google DeepMind models into its operations. The airline says the rollout will cover 35,000 employees and support its plan to grow to 300 million passengers a year by 2034.
The important part is where the AI is supposed to work. Ryanair says Gemini Enterprise will help automate decision-making, improve flight-crew logistics and support corporate productivity. Google Cloud says Ryanair also plans to use DeepMind models, including AlphaEvolve and WeatherNext, for fleet operations and maintenance scheduling.
This is not a frontier model launch, but it is a useful signal for how AI is moving into large physical businesses. Airlines are operationally dense: small gains in scheduling, maintenance and resilience can matter more than another chatbot feature. Ryanair is also framing the deal as part of a dual-cloud strategy, so the AI rollout is tied to reliability as well as productivity.
For readers, the takeaway is that enterprise AI adoption is becoming less abstract. Gemini is being sold into the systems that plan crews, maintain fleets and keep customer-facing services running.
