Lambda seeks up to 4B USD before a planned IPO
The Nvidia-backed AI cloud provider is reportedly raising at a 14.5B USD pre-money valuation as demand for GPU capacity keeps climbing.
Lambda, the Nvidia-backed AI cloud provider, is raising up to 4B USD in what would be its final private funding round before a planned IPO, according to The Wall Street Journal. Reuters separately reported the WSJ details.
The round is reportedly led by Blackstone and Coatue Management and would value Lambda at 14.5B USD before the new money. Reuters said Lambda did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The numbers matter because Lambda sits in the middle of the AI compute bottleneck: it rents GPU cloud capacity to companies building and running large models. According to the report, the company’s backlog rose from 15B USD in June to 50B USD in September, a sharp signal that demand for dedicated AI infrastructure is still outrunning available supply.
For the wider AI market, the deal is another test of whether investors will keep financing the expensive compute layer behind frontier models, coding agents and enterprise AI products. If Lambda can raise at this scale, it strengthens the argument that neocloud providers are becoming a separate public-market category, not just vendors riding one hardware cycle.
