Anthropic gets a dedicated data-center platform for Claude

Anthropic, Macquarie Asset Management and GIC are forming Theseus Infrastructure, a new platform to develop, operate and lease data centers to Anthropic under long-term agreements. The partners say each facility will be purpose-built for Anthropic’s growing Claude capacity needs, with an initial focus on sites in the United States.

The structure is the important part. Funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management and Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC will own Theseus and fund most of the equity for each project, while Anthropic becomes the anchor tenant. That turns Claude compute expansion into a dedicated infrastructure vehicle rather than only a direct balance-sheet buildout by the AI lab.

Anthropic says demand for Claude is growing across businesses, developers and consumers, and that meeting it requires major new compute. The company also says it will cover electricity price increases that consumers would otherwise face from these sites, matching commitments it announced earlier.

For readers, the signal is clear: frontier AI capacity is becoming a real-estate, power and financing problem as much as a model problem. The labs that can lock down long-term data-center supply will have more room to serve enterprise demand and train future systems.
