Anthropic lets Claude query its Economic Index directly
The new connector turns Anthropic’s labor-market dataset into something researchers can ask about inside Claude.

Anthropic launched a Claude connector for its Economic Index on July 22. The practical change is small but useful: instead of reading static reports, users can ask Claude questions against the dataset Anthropic uses to study how people use AI at work.
What changed #
The Economic Index tracks patterns in Claude usage across work categories. By exposing it through a connector, Anthropic turns the dataset into a more interactive research surface for policy teams, economists, journalists and companies trying to understand where AI is actually being adopted.
This is not a new model launch. It is a distribution change for research: the data becomes easier to query, compare and turn into follow-up questions.
Why it matters #
AI labor-market research often dies as PDFs and charts. Putting it inside Claude makes it more likely that non-specialists will use it, and also nudges Anthropic toward a role bigger than model vendor: a company trying to define how the economy should measure AI adoption.
