Claude can now send Gmail from Workspace connectors

Anthropic has expanded Claude’s Google Workspace connectors beyond reading and drafting. The company’s support documentation now says Claude can send, reply to and forward Gmail messages from a connected account, while also working with Google Calendar and Google Drive inside the same conversation.

The important detail is the permission model. Anthropic says each action Claude takes on a user’s behalf requires explicit approval by default. For Team and Enterprise plans, organization owners can decide whether members are allowed to let certain actions run without asking every time.

That makes this more than a convenience feature. Email is one of the highest-risk places to give an AI assistant write access, because mistakes leave the chat and become real communication. Anthropic is moving Claude closer to a workplace agent that can act inside daily tools, but it is doing so with approvals and admin controls as the default boundary.

For users, the immediate takeaway is practical: Claude can help search inboxes, summarize threads, prepare responses and send messages without leaving the chat. For companies, the larger question is governance: which employees should be allowed to delegate send actions to an AI assistant, and which workflows still need a person to press the final button.
