Anthropic folds Claude Cowork into chat

Anthropic is merging Claude Cowork and chat into one Claude interface, starting with Pro and Max users. The practical change is that users no longer need to decide whether a request belongs in regular chat, Cowork or a separate design surface. Claude can route larger tasks from the same conversation and keep the surrounding context, projects, connectors and skills attached.

The update also brings Claude Docs and Claude Slides into conversations. A user can ask for a document or presentation, edit it directly, present from Claude, or export slides as PowerPoint or PDF. Anthropic says Design keeps working as a standalone product, but its capabilities can now show up inside the main conversation flow.

This is a product-design move as much as a feature release. Frontier assistants are becoming less like prompt boxes and more like workspaces that can draft, track, revise and hand back artifacts. Anthropic says Claude will ask before taking actions by default, with an option to let it continue and check in only when closer review is needed. Team and Free plans are slated to follow, while Enterprise admins will get notice before rollout.
