Anthropic cuts Claude prices 40% for U.S. government agencies
The GSA agreement covers Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government and the API across federal, state and local bodies; Anthropic estimates 1 billion dollars in savings.

Anthropic is expanding its agreement with the U.S. General Services Administration to give government bodies a 40% discount on Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government and the Claude API. The offer covers federal agencies as well as state, local, tribal and territorial governments.
The company says the discount now applies across every product surface, including direct purchases and, in the coming months, purchases through cloud providers. Agencies are not required to commit to a minimum spend and can pay for the usage they consume. Anthropic estimates the agreement could save government customers 1 billion dollars.
Anthropic also plans a dedicated implementation program to help agencies deploy Claude. It says about 500 U.S. government organizations already use the system, while usage across federal civilian agencies has grown roughly twentyfold over the past year. Claude for Government is authorized for FedRAMP High workloads, and agencies can also access Claude through Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex AI.
The practical significance is procurement, not just a price cut. Lower prices, broad eligibility and implementation help can make advanced AI easier to adopt inside public institutions, where security requirements and long purchasing cycles often slow deployment.
