Anthropic commits 150 million dollars to U.S. AI science
The company will fund Claude access, API credits, Claude Code and support for federal research projects under the Genesis Mission.
Anthropic is committing 150 million dollars over three years to the Genesis Mission, a U.S. federal effort to accelerate scientific and technological discovery with AI.
The money is meant to put Claude into the hands of researchers across more than 15 federal agencies and national laboratories, including NASA, the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. Anthropic says the commitment covers Claude, Claude Code, API credits, training, onboarding and technical support for several hundred research projects.
The company is also tying the work to priority areas such as fusion energy and quantum computing. That makes the announcement more than a conventional product donation: it is part of a broader push to make frontier AI systems part of government-backed scientific infrastructure.
For readers, the signal is that AI labs are competing not only for consumers, developers and enterprises, but also for national research institutions. Access, credits and workflow support can shape which AI systems scientists build around, especially in projects that need code, data analysis and long-running technical assistance.
