Meta acquires Conductor to build the next interface for AI coding agents
The startup lets developers run Claude Code, Codex and Cursor agents in parallel; its team is joining Meta Superintelligence Labs.

Conductor is joining Meta, the startup’s co-founder and CEO Charlie Holtz announced. The team will work with Nat Friedman and Alexandr Wang at Meta Superintelligence Labs on what Holtz called the “next interface.” Financial terms were not disclosed.
Conductor builds a Mac workspace for running Claude Code, Codex and Cursor agents in parallel. Each agent works in an isolated environment, while the developer can monitor progress, review changes and merge the result. That design targets a practical problem emerging as coding assistants become more autonomous: one person increasingly needs to coordinate several agents rather than chat with a single model.
The acquisition was also reported by Axios. Conductor was founded by Holtz and CTO Jackson de Campos, according to the report. The companies have not detailed how Conductor’s product or technology will be integrated into Meta’s existing services.
Why it matters #
Meta is moving beyond training models and hiring researchers into the software layer where people direct AI agents. The deal gives Meta a team already focused on multi-agent coding workflows, an area where OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and developer-tool companies are also competing.
For developers, the immediate signal is strategic rather than a product launch: major AI labs increasingly see the interface for supervising multiple agents as a core platform, not a niche utility.
