Google DeepMind introduces Gemini 3.6 Flash and a Cyber variant

Google DeepMind introduced Gemini 3.6 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite and Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber on July 21. The announcement is useful because it shows how model lines are becoming more specialized.

Gemini 3.6 Flash is the general fast model: the one a user or developer would reach for when they need a strong everyday assistant at lower latency and cost than the largest frontier tier. Flash-Lite is the lighter variant for high-volume workloads.

The more interesting addition is Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber, a model variant aimed at cybersecurity work. That includes tasks like analysis, triage and security-oriented reasoning where a generic assistant may not be enough.

The simple takeaway: the AI market is moving away from one model to rule them all. Users will increasingly choose models by task: general assistant, cheap high-volume work, coding, security, science or multimodal work.
