Anthropic lets Claude Tag follow full Slack channels

Anthropic says Claude Tag, its Slack-based agent for Teams and Enterprise customers, can now use context from across a channel rather than judging one message at a time. The change is meant to help Claude decide when to answer an @-mention, when to join a conversation on its own, and when to stay silent.

The company says the wider context makes Claude roughly 30% better at deciding whether to proactively respond. Claude Tag can use channel messages, memory, standing instructions, and configured permissions to start work in a thread, connect related conversations, or ignore channels where it has nothing useful to add.

The practical point is that Anthropic is pushing Claude further from chatbot mode toward an ambient workplace agent. That raises the value of good permissions and channel design: teams get a helper that can follow more of the room, but they also need clear boundaries for where it should watch and what it is allowed to do.
